State Highway 6 in Tasman has reopened after a crash saw a truck hanging over the side of the road.

Police said the state highway was initially closed at Hira after the truck carrying hazardous chemicals went off the road and collided with a barrier.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 4.40am on Thursday between Central Road and Hori Bay Road.

Police said there were no reported injuries or damage to the truck's load.

As of 9am, the road was open and clear.

"We thank motorists for their patience."
