This Wellington Chamber Music concert, recorded at St Andrew on the Terrace in Wellington, features the dynamic Ākarana Piano Quartet on their very first tour together.
Ākarana Piano Quartet is made up of Andrew Beer (violin), Robert Ashworth (viola), Chen Cao (cello), and Sarah Watkins (piano), four solo players with distinct voices who come together as one in this intense, exhilarating concert to lift the spirits.
The ensemble perform piano quartets by Joaquin Turina, Bohuslav Martinu and Robert Schumann, as well as a premiere by New Zealand composer Janet Jennings inspired by a colourful abstract painting by Paul Klee.
