PNG PM Marape reshuffles Cabinet

A series of new ministerial appointments have been made in the Cabinet of Papua New Guinea's prime minister James Marape.

Among them is Finschafen MP Rainbo Paita, of Mr Marape's Pangu Pati, who has been appointed as Finance Minister.

Mr Paita, who replaces Charles Abel in the role, vacates the Communication and Energy portfolio for South Bougainville MP Tim Masiu of the National Alliance.

National Alliance MPs recently crossed the floor to join the Marape coalition government.

The party's leader Patrick Pruaitch has been appointed as Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister, replacing Seroi Eoe who becomes Public Service Minister.

The Public Service Ministry is vacated by Wesley Nukunz who takes on the Immigration and Border Security portfolio

Meanwhile, Gazelle MP Jelta Wong becomes the new Health Minister.

His United Resources party leader, William Duma, has been appointed Commerce and Industry Minister.

He takes over from Wera Mori, who has replaced Jeffrey Kama as Minister for Environment and Conservation.
