New Zealand’s longest running composer-in-residence programme was established in 1970. Thirty-one composers have enjoyed the privilege of spending time in Dunedin with nothing expected of them except to devote themselves to their art.
William Dart looks at the Fellowship and talks to Professor John Drummond of the Otago University Music Department; violinist Tessa Peterson, who has recently released a CD – called ‘Release’ – devoted to music by Mozart Fellows; and Samuel Holloway, the incumbent at the time of making the programme.
