Steve Danby introduces Django Reinhardt, a man he describes as a 'temperamental prima donna', whose wife would carry him through the mud of the gypsy camp in which they lived, so that Reinhardt wouldn't dirty his shoes on his way to work. Danby argues that Reinhardt's exceptional playing make him one of the most likely jazz instrumentalists to enjoy long-term fame.
