VERDI: Aida

No battleground is as dangerous as the human heart.

Premièred in the Cairo Opera House in 1871, this tragic love story is set in the time of the pharaohs when Egypt was at war with Ethiopia.

A brutal war, an imprisoned princess torn between love and duty, and the desperate actions of a jealous rival.

Such is the territory of 'Aida': on one hand, the grandest of grand operas, on the other, the simple story of a love triangle.
