President of the Royal New Zealand Pipe Band Association, Iain Blakeley, talks with Bryan Crump about how he came to play the Highland pipes, this year's Pipe Band Championships in Christchurch and the current state of piping in New Zealand.
After a bit of a decline over the past few decades, Iain says things are looking up.
"What we're experiencing in recent times is a newfound interest... and the number of young people taking up piping and drumming in New Zealand is increasing. It's really exciting now to see the growth coming back."
