Former trade unionist and Labour MP Graham Kelly has played in Dixieland and dance bands for most of his life. He's written a book about how politics and music has shaped his life.
Keeping the Party in Tune is a collection of reflections on battles in the life of a union leader and Labour politician as the MP for Porirua and later Mana, from someone who was at the coalface.
Graham spoke with Three to Seven host Bryan Crump about how music has been a central part of his life.
He's currently a member of Dixieland jazz band The New Valley Stompers.
