Amelia Giles talks with RNZ Concert's David Morriss about Kodály Concept Music Education, named after Hungarian composer, ethnomusicologist and music pedagogue, Zoltán Kodály.
The big ideas of the Kodály Concept, she says, are experience-based, active music making, and learning through singing.
Giles studied the pedagogy in Hungary, and now teaches a Kodály Concept-centred classroom music programme as the Music Specialist at Royal Oak Primary School, Auckland.
