Occitan songs and French musette
Lo mau d'amor is the latest album from Trobairitz d'Oc, the duo of Italian singers Valeria Benigni and Paola Lombardo. They're joined by saxophonist Claudio Carboni in a selection of songs sung in Occitan, an ancient Romance language favoured by the medieval poets and troubadours of the Western Mediterranean.
In the second part of the programme, vintage recordings of French accordion 'musette' by some of the genre's best-known performers (Felmay FY8180; Proper Records EMCD 19)
