    Two events celebrated in Global Sounds today: Nowruz or Persian New Year, and St Patrick's Day

    In the 2010 release Ivresses, Iranian composer and tar lute player Ali Ghamsary has set verses by 11th century Persian scholar Omar Khayyam. They're performed by Iranian singer Alireza Ghorbani and Tunisian singer Dorsaf Hamdani

    Then we celebrate St Patrick's Day with music from Uilleann piper John McSherry and fiddler Dónal O'Connor (Accords Croisés AC 142; Vertical Records VERTCD076)
