9:22 pm on 22 November 2004

Reports from French Polynesia say the government has rescinded the appointment of the new head of the board of directors at the public broadcaster, Tahiti Nui TV.

A report in the local newspaper says Reynald Temarii has been removed from the post less than a month after he been appointed by the administration of Gaston Flosse.

No reason has been given for the move.

Mr Temarii has been a member of the territorial assembly for Mr Flosse's Tahoeraa Huiraatira party.

He is also the president of the Oceania Football Federation.
