The main Opposition party in Samoa, has named the MP Valasi Tafito as the party's new Secretary.
Valasi replaces the former secretary Tofa Su'a Atonio Lemi who was murdered in Auckland last week.
Vase Iosefa Falaniko has appeared at the Manukau District court accused of Su'a's murder.
In Samoa, the Democratic United Party held a prayer service for Su'a yesterday.
The Opposition leader Le Mamea Ropati said Su'a had been a very responsible friend whom he and the party had trusted.
Le Mamea added that Su'a had not used his position to benefit himself.
Su'a's body will be taken to his village of Samusu tomorrow for burial.
