Fiji's military appointed interim administration has revoked the appointment of the country's ambassador designate to the United Nations, Dr Tupeni Baba.
Dr Baba was named to the position by the deposed Qarase government after he joined the SDL party and failed to win his seat in the May general election.
He was to have taken up the job this month replacing the former ambassador, Colonel Isikia Savua, whose term expired at the end of last year.
Dr Baba has told Fiji TV he was making preparations to leave for New York when he was informed of the cancellation of his appointment by the chief executive of the ministry of foreign affairs, Isikeli Mataitoga.
He says he has no choice but to accept the decision.
