Fiji's interim government finds looking for suitable candidates for overseas posts difficult

Fiji's interim Foreign Affairs minister says its finding it difficult to look for suitable candidates to fill up the vacant positions at overseas missions particularly for Australia and New Zealand.

Ratu Epeli Nailatikau told Fiji live these two countries have come down hard on Fiji since the events of last year, so it's only wise for us to buy more time so we can sort this out.

Ratu Epeli says he has indicated that they will approach the Australia and New Zealand to accept any appointees from Fiji.

Four embassies and consulates have yet to be filled and these are the United States of America, United Nations, New Zealand and Australia.

Even though the position in Malaysia is still vacant; Ratu Epeli says their nominee, Land Force Commander Colonel Pita Driti is yet to take up the position.
