American Samoa's airline, Inter Island Airways is urging its government to help lift restrictions on flights into Samoa.
Samoa's government has imposed restrictions on the Pago Pago airline which sees it only allowed two flights a day to land at Samoa's Faleolo International Airport ..
Our correspondent Fili Sagapolutele says it's still unclear why Samoa has imposed the restrictions on the airline.
"There hasn't been any official confirmationfrom the airline as to why the Samoa government has imposed such restrictions but we keep hearing that the Samoa officials are saying that Inter-Island needs to be certified by the federal government as a scheduled carrier. The airline is arguing itself last week that they are considered a commuter carrier that can operate between American Samoa and Samoa."
The Inter Island Airways, vice president, Barney Sene says its also working with the United States Transportation department and the US Embassy in Apia to lift restrictions.
