The Lands and Titles Court in Samoa has ordered a former government minister and one of Vaimoso's village orators, Vaiotu Mulitalo Siafausa Vui, his wife and children to vacate the village within one week.
The ruling upheld the original decision of the village council to
banish the orator for breach of village protocols and disturbing the peace.
However in his court petition against the village decision, the former minister of Health, Broadcasting and Telecommunications denied any breach of protocols and argued his rights under the constitution were violated as a result.
A traditional apology to the village by Vaiotu and his family in the past week in search for reconciliation was rejected before the village petition in support of the banishment was heard in court.
The ruling has reminded the village council of the rights of the banished family to visit relatives and set foot on their lands at anytime.
