Samoa's Minister of Tourism and the acting Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni, has
announced that Taveila Nylon, the second runner up in last year's Miss Samoa beauty pageant, will now assume the title.
This follows last week's sudden resignation of American born Tusisaleia Hope Pomele.
Earlier Miss Pomele had replaced the compeition's winner, Jacinta Bourne.
The acting prime minister says Miss Samoa will represent the country in several international events this year including the Expo in Shanghai in China.
Misa says complaints made by Miss Pomele about the way she had been treated by the Tourism Authority are unfounded.
