Tourism industry workers in Samoa's outer island of Savaii are taking part in the first tourism training program to be held on the island.
13 people from different hotels on Savaii are attending the 17 week programme conducted by the Australian Pacific Technical College.
The Manager of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry at the APTC, Jean Kean told the Samoa Observer, to her knowledge it's the first training in Tourism and Hospitality to take place in Savaii.
The course covers cooking, catering, reception and other key aspects.
Part of the course is a two-day excursion to Samoa's main island of Upolu where participants learn from leading figures in the industry.
