Despite the series being out of their grasp, Fiji remain in a positive mindset heading into today's third and final AFL test against the Nauru Chiefs.
Nauru won the opening test by 100 points but that advantage was cut to just 40 in game two.
A Director of AFL Fiji, Robert Wolfgramm, says that augers well for a tightly-fought series finale.
"So that was a ten goal improvement and hopefully they can improve again. The margin might have been closer on Tuesday had we not had some discipline problems but I'm sure the players will learn from that and so it's a learning curve for our fellas to catch up on the finer points of footy."
Robert Wolfgramm says there is definitely interest on both sides at making the series an annual event, and he's also keen for other countries to become involved.
The only other time that international teams outside of Australia meet in footy is at the triennial International Cup, which is held in Sydney and Melbourne every three years so this is great. It wasn't a planned thing from the International Cup, it just came up a couple of months ago and
we both agreed we could do it and we've done it.
