Samoa's deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Nuafesili Pierre Lauofo, has apologised to the police and his country after he was convicted and fined for obstructing the police.
He says he also acknowledges the police for their hard work.
But after escaping with a $90 US-dollar fine, which paid for police costs, Fonotoe, who is also a practising lawyer, is likely to face charges under the Law Society's code of ethics..
A source says the Law Society charges may depend on the Attorney General writing to the society as a result of Fonotoe's conviction.
Fonotoe's lawyer had told the court a possible Law Society charge could be the result of a guilty verdict.
