The leaders of two political parties in Vanuatu have united, forming the Vanuatu National Development Party.
Christophe Emelee of the Vanuatu National Party and Robert Bohn of the Vanuatu People's Development Party have formed the new grouping with the full support of their custom chiefs and provincial councillors and supporters.
Mr Emelee, who is an MP for Torba Province, told the Daily Post his decision to leave the Vanuatu National Party was based on issues with the main force in the party, businessman Dinh Van Than.
Mr Bohn, who is a naturalised citizen from Epi Island constituency, had led the Vanuatu Peoples Development Party.
