American Samoa food stocks back up

4:17 pm on 25 February 2015

Store shelves in American Samoa should be restocked by the end of today with the arrival of the Polynesia Line vessel SeaJade.

The chief customs officer Moetului Sipili Fuiava says he has put on extra staff to clear containers on the vessel today as merchants are anxious to get their goods out as soon as possible.

Many stores have run out of eggs, milk, fresh produce and other food items so the arrival of the SeaJade should bring relief to customers.

Many restaurants have been forced to drop menu items particularly for baked goods because ingredients were not available.
