The President of Kiribati has renewed calls for less talk and more action on climate change, which he says is the biggest humanitarian issue facing our time.
Anote Tong says mitigation action is no longer enough, as low-lying countries like Kiribati are already feeling the effects of climate change.
He says the global community must come up with ways to help the country adapt to the effects of climate change, which could include creating floating islands.
"I have been talking about the issue for ten years and I am getting tired of talking, I really am. We need to go back home and tell our people that we have solutions, that the next storm, if and when it comes, we can guarantee them that they will be safe and secure. We are asking the international community because it is not something we can do on our own."
Anote Tong says once credible solutions have been offered, it will be about getting the funding to see them become a reality.
