Rugby league immortal Andrew Johns is set to take on a voluntary role as assistant coach for Tonga.
The former Kangaroos and Newcastle star has offered to help coach Kristian Woolf mentor the country's upcoming halves when they meet Samoa in a Test on May 7.
"I just like to help out the Pacific island nations...They provide so many players in the NRL and in the under-20s, "Johns told News Corp Australia.
Johns said he will pop into training a couple of times and and give Tonga a hand in the lead-up to next month's Pacific Test against Samoa and is really looking forward to it.
The Mate Ma'a lost 18-16 in the corresponding fixture against Toa Samoa last year.
Fiji and Papua New Guinea are also a part of the Pacific Test programme, which has been running since 2013.
