Aumoeualogo Togia posted a US$25,000 unsecured bond and was released from the Honolulu Federal Detention Centre.

He was charged with interfering with the crew on a Hawaiian Air flight to Hawaii.

The crime carries a maximum 20 year jail sentence.

Court documents said Togia acted in a belligerent way when he was asked to return to his seat and he is alleged to have threatened to kill anyone who touched him or his children.

He allegedly bit one of the attendants during a struggle to restrain him.

Togia said he had had two beers before boarding the flight and said he also drank several small bottles of liquor.

He claimed he didn't know anything and may have blacked out and he also admitted to being a bad drunk.

According to the US Attorney Margaret Nammar who is prosecuting the case, the court ordered that Togia be placed with a third party custodian.

His travel was restricted to the State of Hawaii.

Togia, an American Samoan, is a resident of Hawaii.
