The start of a new police academy for the Department of Public Safety in American Samoa has been pushed back in order to select more police recruits before classes begin.
12 candidates were picked from 30 applicants who passed interviews.
The group went through an orientation on Wednesday with a plan to start classes today.
However, Commander Terry Letuli, who heads the department's training division, says the decision has been made to delay the start and advertise for more recruits.
He says they are looking for 10 more candidates.
