Video has emerged of the Manus Island asylum seeker who has resisted attempts to deport him from Papua New Guinea to Lebanon.
After more than three years in detention, Azzam el Sheikh has been denied refugee status, but fears for his life if he is sent back to his country of origin.
In the video, Mr El Sheikh addressed the Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, from the jail inside the Lorengau police station.
Appealing for pain relief after an act of self harm, Mr El Sheikh said the conditions in the jail were not fit for an animal.
The Kurdish Journalist and Manus Island detainee Behrouz Boochani reported Mr El Sheikh had been warned by police that anyone caught filming inside the jail would be arrested.
Mr Boochani said Mr El Sheikh was due to appear in court this morning.
