Fiji's opposition National Federation Party has asked the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission to condemn language used by the acting prime minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

In parliament, the minister repeatedly urged the opposition to stop being so "sissy".

The NFP has taken exception to that and it has asked the Commission's director Ashwin Raj to look into the use of what it considers to be an insulting term.

In another exchange in parliament this week , Mr Sayed-Khaiyum objected to the NFP's Biman Prasad using the word "crap".

Mr Prasad withdrew the word and replaced it with "nonsense".

Last year, another NFP parliamentarian Tupou Draunidalo was suspended for two years for calling the education minister a fool.
