The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation in the Northern Marianas needs over $US100 million dollars over the next 20 years to address all its water and wastewater projects.
Currently the utilities company's only source of funds is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The planned water and wastewater projects for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota were projected to result in 24/7 water supply, compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act requirements, and a reduction in the corporation's revenue loss.

The utility said a bill is pending in the CNMI legislature for a new development tax of two percent to help the company with its funding.
It was also looking to access grants from the U.S. Department of the Interior and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
