Thirteen fire-fighters from the National Park of American Samoa left over the weekend for the second time this year to fight wild fires in California.
They will be joined by another five crew members still in Honolulu from a previous deployment.
Once in California, the national park's fire crew will work side-by-side with fire crews from across the US.

The National Park of American Samoa's acting Superintendent, Daniel George, said it was a rare opportunity for his team.
Mr George said the territory's crew was well known throughout the United States as a dedicated, hardworking and valuable asset to the national response team.
He said the deployment was not only an opportunity for them to contribute to the greater good of the United States, it was also valuable experience for them.
This year, nine major wildfires in California have destroyed hundreds of homes and burned over two- hundred thousand acres.
