China has been confirmed to take part in Samoa's Marist International Sevens tournament for the first time next month.
The 30th edition of the regionally renowned tournament is to be held on February the 16th and 17th in Apia.
The confirmation comes as a China Rugby Union delegation is in Samoa on a fact finding mission to assess opportunities where both countries can assist each other in the development of rugby.
The delegation has met with the Marist St Joseph's Sports Club Executive to finalise their debut in the international sevens tournament.
Tournament organisers said China's participation is part of the club's long term strategic plan to provide local players an international experience within the development of rugby in Samoa.
Teams from around the country, Fiji and New Zealand are also expected to take part.
