There is concern in the north of New Caledonia that some air services to the region have been called into question.

A domestic carrier Air Loyaute was poised to run some flights previously operated by the other domestic airline Air Caledonie.

This concerns flights from Magenta airport in Noumea to Touho, Koumac and Belep.

However, according to the public broadcaster there is a dispute over the employment terms of ground staff.

It also said there have been no talks on the issue.

Air Loyaute had decided to hold off with the service.
