Tonga's King Tupou VI opened the newly upgraded domestic wharf at Faua on Friday morning.
The project was delayed by three months due to destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Gita.
The wharf was built with help and funding of US$30 million from the Japanese government.
Tonga's Marine and Ports Division said the new wharf and terminal will provide highly efficient domestic cargo transport and passenger services to all the people of Tonga.
