The Central Pacific Hurricane Center has cancelled its tropical storm warning for Hawaii's Big Island as Hurricane Hector weakens to a category 3.
On its current track, the storm is forecast to pass south of Hawaii later today.
There are warnings of potentially high surf on southeast shores of Ka'u and Puna, located on the coastline of the Hawaii Volcanoes national Park.
Earlier this morning, Hurricane Hector was located 354 km south of Hilo, moving west at 25 km per hour, with maximum winds at its center at 185 km/hour.
