An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale has struck southeast of New Caledonia's Loyalty Islands.
It struck at 2:52pm local time today (0352 UTC AUG 29 2018), at a depth 10 kilometres.
The epicentre was 22.2 degrees south, 170.0 degrees east.
The US Geological Survey reports there is no threat of tsunami.
