American Samoa Governor Lolo Moliga's chief of staff, Fiu Johnny Saelua, has admitted in court that he had physical contact with another person knowing that his actions were offensive.
Fiu pleaded no contest to the amended misdemeanour charge of third degree assault, after a young woman who had lived with his family for many years said he had sexually assaulted her.
Fiu had originally been charged with first degree sexual abuse but the more serious charge was dismissed when the prosecution said it had no witnesses to call.
The judge accepted Fiu's no contest plea and set sentencing for December 7.
