PNG leader appoints acting justice minister/Attorney General

A formal appointment of Papua New Guinea's new Minister for Justice and Attorney General is not expected until next week.

This follows the resignation by Esa'ala MP Davis Steven from the posts last week.

The Post Courier reported Prime Minister Peter O'Neill had appointed Minister for Civil Aviation, Alfred Manasseh, to be the acting justice minster and attorney general.

In making the announcement, Mr O'Neill said the portfolio is highly important for public and business sector governance, and Mr Manasseh, who has a strong legal background, has the experience.
