Several dozen people marched from the cathedral in Papeete to the court building to denounce violence.

The call by Group Stop Violence in Polynesia targeted all forms of violence, be it abuse of the elderly or violence caused by drug use.

Most participants were women concerned about domestic violence.

Another such march is planned for November.
