Village chiefs on the west coast of Vanuatu's Santo island are investigating the cause of a bushfire that has destroyed cocoa and coconut plantations.
The Daily Post reports no homes have been burnt but gardens have been lost - affecting about 200 people.
The fire near Kerepua village is still burning after starting on the weekend although its activity is said to have reduced.
A Community Disaster Committee has been activated to assess the fire's impact and the Sanma Provincial Emergency Center is on standby.
