The drought in the Northern Marianas is expected to continue for some time.
This week the region experienced some showers this week, but the US National Weather Service said there wasn't enough in the CNMI to make a difference.
According to the Emergency Operations Center, the drought could still worsen over the next couple weeks
The weather service said the CNMI had been anchored in a very dry trade-wind pattern for several months now.
It said the commonweath had the driest year, by month, on record so far.
However officials said water levels were still above thresholds for concern.
