A spate of Covid-related deaths has continued in Guam with the 47th coronavirus fatality announced last night.
The patient was a 61-year-old woman who died on Tuesday, the same day she was admitted into hospital.
53 new cases of the coronavirus were also recorded yesterday bringing the island's total count to 2,443 cases, 585 of which remain active.
There are 26 people in hospital with the virus, including nine in intensive care.
There have been a total of five deaths reported this week.
Meanwhile the Northern Marianas Governor has offered to assist Guam in its fight against the deadly Covid-19 outbreak.
Governor Ralph Torres said he wanted to help the island neighbour which had seen a surge of coronavirus cases.
Torres said the situation was "very alarming" and he wanted to see how the CNMI could help what he called, "brothers and sisters in Guam."
Seven of the CNMI's 70 cases of the coronavirus have originated from Guam, which lies 209 kilometres to the south.
Two people have died due to Covid-19 in the CNMI.
