Covid-19 concerns prompt Tahiti school strike

Schools in French Polynesia are expected to be hit by strike action tomorrow over concerns about the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

All French education sector unions have called for a stoppage nationwide to secure stricter measures in the fight against the pandemic.

They want improvements to protect students and teachers.

In Tahiti, unions say there are not enough masks for students, it's impossible to ensure proper distancing and to air all rooms.

In French Polynesia, Covid-19 has infected about 10,000 people, making it one of the worst hit areas in the world.
