81 people are in hospital, including 23 in intensive care.
Over the weekend, another 308 people tested positive, bringing the total case number to 13,286.
All but 62 cases were detected after the borders were reopened in July and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished.
Last week, local broadcaster Tahiti Nui TV, was forced to cancel its news programmes for the first time because of the virus' impact on staff.
The pandemic's progression has slowed in recent days as the curfew introduced last month appears to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
