There has been another shark cull in New Caledonia after February's fatal attack near Noumea.
A 57-year-old man died after a shark wounded his leg when he went for a swim off his boat anchored near Maitre islet.
The Southern Province said in March it took 24 sharks, including 19 tiger sharks, depending on their size and aggressiveness.
It said the lagoon is not only a leisure area, making it necessary to organise a coexistence with other creatures.
Two years ago, the authorities culled protected sharks in a central Noumea bay after a boy lost a leg in a shark attack.
