Fijian police commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the force is focused on "disrupting, destabilising and dismantling" home-based illicit drug production labs in the country.
Tudravu, who returned as the top cop two weeks ago, told reporters in Suva, that "there is currently no intelligence to show that there are commercial, clandestine laboratories in Fiji to produce methamphetamine".
Fiji is battling with a drug crisis and local authorities are struggling to contain the flow and use of hard drugs by locals, particularly young people.
"Fiji is almost certainly only being used as transshipment point to other lucrative drug market," Tudravu said in a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Our approach is to disrupt, destabilise, and dismantle the illicit networks by cutting the supply chain.
"We all need to be vigilant in stoppping transnational cirme syndicates taking hold in Fiji."
He said the police will begin a "national operation" to beef up efforts to tackle the problem.
The police commissioner also revealed that there was a 23 percent increase in overall crime, including increases in cases against women and children.
