With a vote on independence from Papua New Guinea now just six months away Bougainville is beginning to make some progress, according to President John Momis.
Mr Momis says promised finance from the national government for the referendum process is starting to come through, while there have been discussions by officials about the meaning of 'independence and greater autonomy' - the options for the referendum.
Don Wiseman spoke with Mr Momis about these matters, but began by asking why a former president of Bougainville, James Tanis, had been dumped from the key post of secretary in Bougainville's Department of Peace Agreement Implementation.
Mr Momis says Mr Tanis was out of order in seeking payment directly from Port Moresby for service providers working for the department, but who had not been paid.
