New Caledonia anti-independence side fears losing control

From , 3:05 pm on 6 June 2019

The anti-independence camp in New Caledonia is afraid that for the first time a mainly pro-independence government could be elected next week.

Negotiations are under way after the Congress last week chose a pro-independence politician Roch Wamytan as its president.

A repeat of the voting pattern could lead to the election of the pro-independence politician as New Caledonia president
