A Papua New Guinea researcher has called on the new government to prioritise efforts to combat gender-based violence.
Fiona Hukula is the leader of the PNG National Research Institute's Building Safer Communities programme.
According to her, progress has been made in terms of government endorsing a national strategy against gender based violence.
But Dr Hukula says better co-ordination and a holistic approach are needed to properly implement the strategy
She told Johnny Blades this would be consistent with the stated aims of new prime minister James Marape.
