Overseas voting for the Bougainville Independence referendum got underway on Monday with polling stations opening on Gizo in Solomon Islands and Cairns in Australia.
It's the first time overseas polling has been conducted for Bougainville and Papua New Guinea.
Polling in Gizo and Cairns continues today and then moves to Honiara and Brisbane.
The chief referendum officer Mauricio Claudio spoke with Koroi Hawkins about the overseas voting.
